I truly enjoyed this. You have very vivid imagery and character development. I was not put off so much by the beginning... for some reason it worked for me to just jump right in to the story (and also you provided the necessary background throughout the rest).
What put me off was the end, lol, I want more! I have to admit I am biased here, this is my favorite kind of story, a bit of adventure, fantasy, sci-fi and romance all rolled up together. Hope you finish this one up!
