Your style is really easy to read and clear.
Frankly the concept didnt seem particulary new to me, so the general feeling after reading "My Sweetheart" was almost as if I had heard it before somewhere - from a friend perhaps, or in a soap. Thats the only thing i dislike about it. The charecterisation is pretty good, there was a feeling of "knowing" the characters after reading it. The way you intertwined bits of past and present was just perfect, there is a constant feeling of "where will it go next".
And frankly i dont have anything against the length, because i never got to that point of reading something but not taking it in due to your relatively simple language and presentation.
