Re: Cry of a Spartan

That was pretty good....it was a great concept for a slice of war at the ground level. Not the pitched battle and adrenaline side, but the more calculating and "personal" side. I liked the title too.....I remember the first piece I saw from you was "WW II Never Ended" and you didn't like the title. This one was great.

I did spot a few minor things you should clear up, and a few that are just my personal opinions:

Quote:
I grabbed onto the medal barrel
Should be "metal".

Quote:
I couldn't shoot the gun out, because first, I could miss and destroy the gun, and second, it would cause lots of noise.
The noise makes sense....a sniper worried about missing from 10 feet away doesn't.

Quote:
I moved slowly through the snow my shoulder would occasionally brush against an evergreen, and I would get a face full of snow for my mistake.
I think you should either start that sentence "As I moved..." or split it into two sentences.

Quote:
not only does that probably mean you're using a lot of many bullets,
a lot of many?

Quote:
I could see a now that he was Finnish
Drop the "a"

Quote:
I pulled the bolt back, and a steaming cartridge landed right on the Finns wound.
That's a great image...but if you took the shot, waited for the echoes to die, for the birds to settle, for the target to start moaning, then walked 100 meters through the snow, would the spent cartridge still be that hot?

Quote:
When he seemed to\notice that I wouldn't kill him
Not sure how a \ wound up there....

Quote:
"And why are you in a forest while a battle is going on a mile," I paused and looked into the sky.
I'm not sure what the "proper" method is for indicating that someone's sentence has trailed off into a pause. I would have typed it as "And why are you in a forest while a battle is going on a mile..." I paused and looked into the sky.

Quote:
As I dived deeper into the bag
I think it should be "dove".

Quote:
He flinched, but seeing the bind let him no that I was only trying to help him.
...let him know...

Quote:
It wouldn't kill the person, but certainly would get knocked on their ass.
I'd suggest "It wouldn't kill the person, but would certainly knock them on their ass."

Quote:
I gave an airy laugh through my life,
Not sure what that means....

Quote:
In a matter of seconds, I was nearly surrounded by while, perfectly fluffed powder.
white

Quote:
He woke up with a cough and looked at me with question.
How about "He woke up with a cough and looked at me questioningly."

Quote:
Then, as the world got colder, as thy sky got blacker
the sky...

Quote:
I dived into the cave and turned my head.
I dove into the cave...

Quote:
With no avail, I called his name, and felt incredible light-headed and very foolish.
incredibly

Quote:
It didn't take to long, and soon I headed to a wide-open area surrounded by stumps of cut down trees and dirty snow.
too long

Quote:
"Here in the resting place of a true soldier."
Here is the resting place...

Nice job.
