Once upon a time there were three little pigs
Each one of them did all kinds of jigs
They loved to dash about then each one of them pranced
They took it in turns then each one of them danced
Until the day the farmer came with his daughter
To chose a pig who was ready for slaughter
"Which one shall we choose?" he asked his little girl
She pointed to the pig whose tail didn't curl
"I'll collect him tomorrow and I'll take him away."
The three little pigs gulped, only one began to sway
"There's not much time," said the three little pigs
Who loved to dance and prance and do little jigs
But that was then and this is now
The pig with the straight tail wished he was a cow!
Or a sheep or a hen even a lamb
Not nice and plump and made of delicious ham
He was interupted by one pig who said
"Don't worry little brother just you keep your head."
"At least until tomorrow," said the other as a joke
But as soon as he said it he wished he hadn't spoke.
"I'm only teasing, you won't come to any harm
When it gets dark we will leave this dreadful farm."
They waited until nightfall and then made their escape
Each one of them laughing at their huge jape
Which was back in the pigsty where they'd left behind
Something they were sure the farmer would find
Three little blankets covered three bales of hay
And when the farmer came back the very next day
He was surprised he couldn't see the pigs anywhere
He went into the sty to wake them, but came out pulling his hair
He felt like huffing and puffing 'till he blew their house down
Instead he huffed and he puffed and wore a huge frown
The three little pigs were far away and well over hill and dale
All because of one little pig, the one with the straightest tail!

Lubesh, my daughters and I really enjoyed this piece. My youngest had a ball reading it out aloud to the family. It's hilarious!

A very well written poem. For what it's worth, I think the farmer's daughter herself, was a pig actually...A racist pig to be exact, for singling out someone with a straight tail....
