[Lubesh]

I wind up the key in my clockwork mouse
And set it down on the floor of the house
It whizzes around in circles and more
Then zooms ahead straight for the door

Out it scoots into the corridor
Stopping right beside our large cats paw
He prods the mouse fiercely, jumps up and pounces
The mouse gives a whir and the cat bounces

He's missed the mouse, it's out of sight
The cat gives chase with all his might
And ends up caught in an old mouse hole
He thinks he's finally reached his goal

The mouse appears from behind the cats tail
The cat shrieks a meow and gives a wail
Then jumps up leaping straight into the air
He didn't expect it to come from there

Quite a shock he got so up he went
I rescue the cat from his torment
And wind up my mouse and send him back
To give my sister a mouse attack!

i love how you wrote in couplets, except with corridor and cat's paw. my friend (who is reading over my shoulder) and i thought thaat that was awesome.

I can picture the illustrations that would accompany this. This has a nice formatting and presentation appropriate for children. Perhaps some punctuation?

I imagine an antique one in good condition would be highly collectable. Very bright and colorful! I can see this as the subject of a childrens' coloring book. Delightfully visual.

Delightful. I too, see an antique wind up toy. And the poem elicits a sense of how much fun it is to tease (gently) the family cat. We spent hours in my childhood playing with our cat - simple times, slower times. Thank you.
