Ed Case sat at the edge of his seat, as he watched other flyers take off in
the daring flying machines. Just past the Charter Oak Greenway, an exciting
trail that gives access to bikers and hikers all the way from Maine to Florida,
his eyes were distracted by the I-84 exit that would transport him from his
home in Manchester, and allow Ed to fly his model airplane over Connecticut's
expansive Farmington Valley.

Checking weather conditions, Ed listened to his radio and flight control. From
the aerial tower, the sky was a clear, powder blue and the wind was gentle
and smooth. The sky was radiant, and its color was like a monarch butterfly,
in brilliant hues of yellow and orange. The thrill of flying was like a welcome
hand encouraging him to fly over the sapphire sea, through the cottonball
clouds, so high in the heavens that he could almost touch the face of God.
Flying a model airplane, with an eight-foot wing span, was a dream come
true.

And, it was an exhilarating experience, which could only be compared to
flying a small plane over Niagara Falls during rush hour. In the sky, soaring
like a bird, Ed felt unusually free. He was at peace with himself, and tranquil.
Not feeling the chaos of what was going on down on the land. In the sky, he
was part of a vast universe conquering the moon and the stars, and feeling
Neal Armstrong's triumph of shooting for the moon, capturing the mighty
constellations, the prismic rainbows, and the jeweled stars. Flying his model
airplane, Ed was not alone--and he could feel the colors of the wind, beneath
his wings, supporting him. He was flying like an eagle, proud and jubilant.

At Air Combat USA, Ed fully realized the impact of September 11, and the
need for safety in the skies. Flying over America: the home of the brave,
and the land of the free. At Air Combat USA, Ed got the opportunity to
actually fly a light, attackfighter aircraft. Fortunately, on this day at least,
Ed did not have to choose any weapons of war.

Perhaps you, too, will be able to fly in the majestic skies, over the land and
sea of the free--and will not be required to choose any weapons. In a warm
and secure atmosphere of peace--where democracy, life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness shall always reign.

Cool Re: From the Sky to Infinity...

Ed Case here...Think...in three dimensions. Fly by wire...Explore the fightspace...Challenge each design with it's flight envelope, in relation to the airspace. The frontier of flight is alive and well, and continues to develope. I respect the pioneers...and it's my opinion that the first manned, powered, flight took place in France. My respect for them is unyielding. Let's all get behind the Lockheed 'Skunkworks', and start testing the delta-canard. Most streamlined, most compact for payload, and most roll stable planform of all...and look at the front-line fighters of today...Mirage...Desault Mirage 2000. What's next guys?
