Found Dead

On August 24th the infamous 9th planet was found dead in its home outside of Neptune, leaving one satellite behind, Charon. The public has been demanding answers and the police are reluctant to give them. Police chief Walter Minchell had this to say at a recent press briefing.

" We have many suspects in the case including Orcus and various other Kuiper Belt obejects, the IAU, and the international Communist Conspiracy. But rest assured the other Kupier belt planets, the gas giants, and Earth itself are under police protection. The perpetrator will be held accountable for his/her/its actions."

But one must wonder if Mr. Minchell is doing a good enough job tracking down the killer. The public looks towards the IAU the International Astronomical Union, but the police are reluctant to make a move. The biggest clue that points towards them is a decision on the same date of Pluto's death that changed the definition of a planet. While meeting the first two conditions the last one is definitely an attack on the poor planet.

This last stipulation of the definition of a planet is that the body must have cleared its orbit of asteroids. Pluto did not do so but even the IAU admits that is no reason for murder.

With the death of Pluto the Kuiper Belt has been thrown into chaos. The dwarf planets as they are known, are wondering if there chances of planet-hood have been thrown out the window. They cling to fact that 300 astronomers do now abide to the IAU's decision claming that Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune are at risk themselves. This brings the risk of those planets deaths into the eyes of the authorities.

3rd grade students around the world are participating in a crayon strike refusing to draw pictures of any sort until the culprit is found. President Bush fearing the halt in the economy that this would no doubt cause was one of the members at the quickly formed International Anti-astronomical Federation or IAF. The spokesmen for the IAF had this to say, "We are urging the 3rd graders to hold off on such rash behavior or they may be put in time out. The kindergarteners have decided against stopping macaroni portraits and we should all learn a step of tolerance from those brave souls."

Cool Re: Found Dead

lol. It's sad that an old tradition like pluto is disappearing. Now all the kiddies will have to learn about the planets again. Looks like i'm in for another astronomy test. Although I have Biology. lol.

How many planets are there in the Universe that have been discovered.

answer: 9

Fail test.

Teacher? I have a question.

Look you idiot! There are 8 planets! 8!!!!!!! Not 9!!! #$#@%#@^%

Hey um I dont know quite how to say this but...there are more then 9 plantes in the Universe, and more then that that have been discovered. So um...I think you meant Solar System and that is why you failed the hypothetical test.

Re: Found Dead

There are (or at least were before that stupid thing with Pluto) 194 known planets and an astronomical number of others yet to be discovered.

Pass test with flying colors.

LOL That was a bonus question in my 10th grade science class. Which I passed.

Re: Found Dead

Hey Muad. Really enjoyed reading this one. It is very amusing and very appropriately so. I like the news article style in which it was written... made it that much more funnier. Grammar and punctuation was neat, didn't see any flaws.

Imaginative, but I have to admit I found it a little hard to follow. I thought it jumps around a bit.
