Aliens Too

Synopsis: Remember Ellen Ripley? What a one-sided viewpoint. In an alternative time-line...

Hello, Doora? How ARE you? Oh, my. Has it been FOUR gooonks? You were sick with that scale rot. Nasty. How interesting. Gamma rays. For scale rot. Well, that's new. Something always is.

Yes, I get them. Supply depot seven. Farther, yes, but I think they're fresher at seven. Of course freshness affects the flavor. When were you hatched? But the appearance doesn't.

They are hideous, there is no denying it. I simply can't, I don't WANT to be objective. I am not a scientist; I don't have to study the things, thank Xix. I only feed them to my young. If the government says they're safe -- and they'd better be, or the Hemi-horq herself is going into the rendering pots -- my small ones are going to get all they want.

Isn't it surprising that something so ugly can taste so good? With just a drop of slime here and there, they're awfully dry, but you do get good poundage. The bones are so sweet.

Yes, I do eat them myself. It's an indulgence, but I do it. I feel I have a right as long as the little bluurz aren't deprived. There's a whole planetful, after all. Not like those watery things we used up so quickly on Talos IV. I miss them. These Solars are excellent, but those things were SUperb.

I refuse to be part of the debate over whether to save the Solars for the hatchlings or to continue letting the older phases eat their fill. I don't make public policy, thank Xix. But actually I can't see that a fractional point of magnesium or chromium makes a difference. Make it up with supplements, I say.

Oh, you're going to worry about ethics? With a race that used flamethrowers on innocent, pre-rational phases? Give me a pnarff! So it hurts them to serve as hosts, so what? They'd eat US if they had the chance, don't think they wouldn't.

Fine, be a wishywashy if you want to. Get on your high huurg. Eat only fiberoids and synthetos. Just don't come bellowing to me when your own eggs turn and rend you. It's your responsibility to feed them a decent diet.

Hmm? Yes, I guess I do have a preference. The ones with the -- generally -- longer skull fibers. A higher proportion of fat. Are they females? You're kidding. Ooh. That gives me a funny shiver. Females. Mothers like us. What am I saying? They're mammals! They grow their young INSIDE them! Disgusting cannibalistic parasites. Thank Xix we are made in Her image, and not something like a freshly molted fneen.

Got to go. You know my brood. Nothing but jaws and teeth. Wonderful. I just love 'em. See you next gooonk. We'll go hunting. Bye.

Re: Aliens Too

Very funny. It helps to imagine one of the aliens actually speaking this, the words coming out of, uh, her mouth. You quite brilliantly captured the dilemma of feeding one's little ones. Government sactioned and supplement enhanced. And animal rights, too. All from another unique perspective, the essence of great satire.

This line got me.

And now I know what Ripley's first name is...

Wonderful!

Re: Aliens Too

I enjoyed this piece. I though it was the correct length as I'm not sure I could read as much as a couple of pages of it. But, you did a good job.

Re: Aliens Too

great piece!
i'm a nitpicker of details and grammar but i couldn't find anything that bothered me in this piece
I cant imagine that this genre have a lot less posts and writers..but writing these require more hardwork and intelligence than those crappy GORE HORROR stories out there
