[Odanion]

Synopsis: A simple guy gets the girl with a twist of fate and a dash of heroism



It was a warm and windy day, a man was walking through a park surrounded by lovely big trees.

The wind blew through the man's hair. "Ah, this warm air is a pleasant feeling after a hard day of work." He placed his hand on the hilt of his as to keep it from moving as he started to sprint.

While the man was running another man stopped him. "Odanion, wait a second."

Odanion stopped. "What is it Kazuki?"

"You must come quickly, the serpent gang has returned!" Kazuki yelled clearly out of breath.

"Shit! Of all the gangs it had to be them." He used his thumb to unsheathe his sword slightly as he sprinted off in the direction Kazuki showed him.

Meanwhile in a dark alleyway, a few thuggish people were pushing a young lady around.

The woman screamed as she hit against a mettle pole.

"You see what happens when you mess with us, bitch?" One of the thugs asked while kicking dirt at her.

The thugs smirked as one of them walked up to the woman with a very evil grin. He reached his hand downwards and grabbed the left side of her shirt, he then pulled it with a great force tearing part of her shirt open.

The woman let out another yell as she slapped the thug across the face.

The thug walked up to her again. "Ok, bitch. I was going to let you off easy, but seeing as you hit me, I will just have a bit....Rougher."

"NO! Please somebody he..." The woman's pleas were cut short by a hand covering her mouth.

One of the other thugs walked up to her and looked her up and down. "My, my, she seems like quite the tasty catch, so who gets to have fun with her first?"

The woman's eyes widened in horror as she finally figured out what was going to happen.

But before anyone could answer or argue a voice came in like the wind.

"Serpent scum, people like you deserve an eternity in hell."

The thugs looked around scared, trying to find where the voice was coming from.

"You can look as much as you want." A figure appeared behind the one thug. "But unless I want you to, you won't see me."

The thug spun around quickly just to see there was no one there. Then, as if it were by lightning one of the thugs dropped to the ground with a sword sticking through him. The other thugs gasped and all but the one who had been talking tried to run, simply ending up with a few shurikens in their backs.

Then as if it were a shadow, the man who had talked like the wind appeared. He grinned. "It isn't like you, to get so angry just from a little slap. You weren't really planning on really having your way with her I hope."

"Why you!" The thug lunged himself towards the man who could clearly be seen as Odanion.

Odanion simply side stepped out of the way of the lunge and slammed the backs side of his hand against the thug's neck.

The thug spun around and grabbed his sword. "Well you see Odanion, I seem to have the upper hand now, you see I have a sword and you do not." The thug grinned.

Odanion put up his hand and motioned for the thug to bring it on.

The thug charged straight towards him again, and this time during the side stepped he didn't smack him instead he hit him on the side of the neck knocking him to the ground.

Odanion walked up to the woman who was shivering and offered his cloak he was wearing. "Please wear this, it is far too cold out here to be walking around with a torn shirt on"

The woman immediately blushed forgetting that half of her upper body was uncovered. She gladly took the cloak and with Odanion's help she wrapped it around her tightly as possible.

Odanion led the woman out of the alley. "So miss, could you maybe give me your name?"

The woman thought instantly that he was another weirdo, but then remembering how he saved her and didn't ask for anything except her name, so she decided it was ok. "M-My name is Revruby."

"Ah, Ruby, a fine name indeed. I would offer you tea at my house, but seeing what you have just gone through, I am not sure if you will trust me or not."

Revruby looked up at Odanion who must have been a foot taller than herself. She thought long and hard while walking before answering. "T-tea sound good." She tried to smile but could only slightly manage.

"Then it is settled, let us return to my house for some tea." Odanion seemed overjoyed that she had agreed even after what she had just gone through.

The two of them made it to Odanion's house where they sat down and enjoyed some fresh made tea.

"So, Ruby. Why is it that you were in such an alleyway?"

Revruby looked into his eyes and saw how soft they seemed, she just knew this guy didn't have any bad intentions, she was sure of it now. "I-I needed to go through it to get to a different street faster." Tears starting dripping out of her eyes.

Odanion seeing this quickly brought his hand over to her face and with a finger scooped her tears from her cheek. "It is ok, as long as you are in my house, no harm can come to you." He looked deep into her eyes and smiled.

Seeing Odanion smile, Revruby sniffled and tried to smile. "T-Thank you, you have been ever so kind, but may I ask why you are so kind to me?"

Odanion looked at her and continued to smile. "Because no one deserves such treatment."

"But, why did you take me all the way to your house and even offer me tea?"

Odanion looked into her eyes once more. "Because, I see something special in your eyes. Something that most others miss I am sure."

Revruby looked slightly puzzled. "What do you see?"

Odanion looked at the clock. "Ah, I guess that is something I will have to explain the next time we meet, but I think I should be getting you home."

Revruby was shocked when she saw the time. "I guess you are right. I didn't notice it was this late already."

So Odanion walked Revruby home which happened to be quite close to where he lived, at the door the said their goodbyes.

Then while waving goodbye and a promise to meet again, Odanion walked back to his home not turning the corner until he saw her walk inside.


The next morning Odanion awoke to the sweet melodious chirping of the morning birds. He stood up and quickly got dressed in his white training suit. "What better way is there to wake up in the morning, if it is not to listen to the morning birds and to hone my martial arts?"

Odanion walked to his private dojo where he trained most of the time, yet this time while he was training, no matter how concentrated he was, there was a sweet sounding song flowing its way through his dojo walls.

"Whose voice can be so beautiful?" He asked himself.

Odanion decided to check it out, he walked out of the dojo and followed a path that the sound seemed to leave behind. As he arrived behind a few houses he could tell it was coming from inside of one of them, and then as if it was meant for him to see, he saw a beautiful figure tending to a magnificent pony, Odanion knew instantly that it had to be Revruby. Odanion tried to back away silently as not to be heard but he managed to step on a dry twig which caused it to snap.

Revruby spun around quickly. "W-Who is there?" She asked nervously.

"I-It's me, Odanion. I am sorry if I startled you." Came a muffled voice which was definitely Odanion's.

Revruby quickly hurried to the back gate and opened it up. A wide smile appeared on her face as she saw Odanion. "P-Please come in, I want to offer you some tea for being so kind to me."

Odanion smiled. "Yes please, some tea would be great right about now."

So the two of them entered her house and sat down at her table, while drinking tea they started talking again.

"You have a voice worthy of an angel, Ruby. I have never heard such beautiful singing before."

Revruby started to blush. "I-I thank you for the compliment, but my voice isn't that special."

Odanion frowned slightly. "How can you say that? The song I heard was able to interrupt my concentration, which has never happened before."

Revruby looked at the floor. "I-I am sorry I interrupted your training, i-it won't happen again I promise."

Odanion laughed heartedly. "You don't need to worry about that, just listening to your voice was sweeter than listening to the chirping of the morning birds."

Revruby started to blush again. As she looked at Odanion it was the first time she really saw him, as the night before it was dark even at his house. He seemed to be quite tall, that she had noticed, but she could see a kindness in his eyes, the kind of which was not commonly seen anymore. It was then that she remembered. "L-last night, you said you saw something in my eyes, what is it that you saw?"

Odanion smiled wider. "All in due time, I will explain everything shortly. But for now, would you maybe tell me a little more about yourself, this house is wonderful and I see a lot of paintings."

Revruby looked around the room they were sitting in. "O-Ok, I am a painter, I enjoy painting and other arts."

"And what about the pony I saw?"

"That is my precious treasure. She came to me one day when I was feeling lonely, she has been with me ever since I was a little girl."

Odanion looked out the back door at the pony. "She is very beautiful, do you brush her every day?"

"Yes, it is the least I can do for her."

Odanion smiled. "You are a very kind girl to spend time taking care of an animal, not many people are like that anymore."

Revruby frowned. "I have told you about me, now how about I hear a little more about you."

Odanion laughed once again. "I am sorry, where are my manners. Well as you already know, my name is Odanion and I am the instructor of a martial arts dojo that deals with swords and fists. Well at least, that is what most people would know about me, but what most people don't know is that I write books."

Revruby looked at him surprised. "Y-You write books? What kind of books?"

Odanion smiled even brighter as he reached into one of his pockets. "These kind of books." He held up a book with the title: Passion of the heavens.

Revruby looked shocked. "Y-You write romance?"

Odanion laughed a little harder. "What, is it hard to believe that a fighter like me can write romance books?"

Revruby giggled. "Well it is true I didn't expect it, but I don't think that you are the kind of person to be a full out fighter, you seem to kind for that."

"Well, then it is settled. Would you like to have dinner with me later tonight?"

Revruby was so surprised she didn't notice she was blushing a bright red color. "O-Ok." She agreed before even realizing it.

"Great, I will pick you up here later tonight."

And off Odanion went back towards his dojo, where he went back to his training with once again a clear mind.

Later on that evening Revruby heard a knock at the door. She quickly looked over her dress once more before opening the door.

There in the doorway was Odanion wearing a dark black outfit and nicely done up hair. Odanion took one look at Revruby. "Wow, you are gorgeous."

Revruby who was wearing a beautiful long blue kimono had he silky red hair flowing over her shoulders. The comment made her blush a red almost matching her hair.

"Shall we go?" He asked her.

"Ok." Was all her reply was.

"Great, then let us be off."

While there were walking towards the nearest restaurant, Revruby couldn't help but ask. "Umm, where are we going?"

"It is a surprise, please just walk with me until we arrive."

Revruby nodded and kept following him.

Then Odanion stopped in front of a building. "Here we are Ruby."

Revruby looked up at the sign above the door and gasped. "T-This is the most expensive restaurant around!"

Odanion laughed. "So it is, so it is. But now that we are here, please join me. I have already reserved our seats."
Revruby nodded and followed Odanion. Once they arrived at the table the both sat down across from each other.

"Now, let us enjoy this wonderful evening together, shall we?"

Revruby blushed slightly and nodded.

As the evening went on they enjoyed the wonderful food and they enjoyed talking with each other.

Then Revruby asked the question again. "What is it you saw in my eyes?"

Odanion smiled once again, it was a smile filled with happiness. "I saw love, I saw happiness. I saw that you want to be loved, and I saw you want to live happy, and these things you want, these things that I have seen. I wish to give them to you."

Revruby smiled while blushing a red that was fuller than even her hair. "What is this feeling I have?" She asked herself.

Odanion reached over the table, and with his hand he brushed a few strands of her hair behind her ear.

It was then that she noticed for the first time, that she had a warm and fuzzy feeling in her stomach. "Could it be, could he really be the one?"

Odanion placed his hand underneath her chin and brought her face a little closer, he then brought his own face a little closer as well.



Their faces where now but a mere inch away, when suddenly someone yelled. "Odanion, come quickly, the serpents are at it again!"

Odanion took one longing look at Revruby before running off towards the voice.

Revruby frowned. "I guess to him I am always number two, how can I possibly ask for someone like him?" She thought as a stray tear slid down her cheek.

Odanion met Kazuki at the door. "What is it?" He asked hurriedly.

"The serpents have started to destroy a building, they are smashing the walls while stealing whatever they can. The store is a poor one so it doesn't have any guards of its own, and none of the other store guards want to risk themselves over it. Please help this store out, it is all my mother has left."

Odanion nodded and ran towards the store of Kazuki's mother. He quickly unsheathed his sword just before he arrived.

Meanwhile Revruby was leaving the restaurant and preparing to go home.

As Odanion rounded the corner to confront the thugs, he noticed there were only two. "Hah, with only two of you this won't even be a challenge."

The thugs turned around grinning. "You think so? What would you do if was said that woman you were with has a body so great, that I am just going to take it."

"You won't get the chance to touch her."

"Maybe I won't, but my boss will. You see, this was all a set up and as we speak your pretty lass is getting closer to him."

Revruby opened to door to the restaurant and walked out. Then out of no where a hand clapped itself around her mouth. "Don't move if you want to live." Came a whisper that could still be heard as the same man who yelled for Odanion.

Revruby started to cry, because she understood exactly what was going on.

Odanion stood over the corpse of one of the thugs while grabbing the other by his collar. "If you wish to live, tell me where this boss of yours is!"

The thug laughed. "He has been closer than you could ever imagine."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Odanion asked as he hit the thug across the face with the hilt of his sword.

The thug spit out some blood. "He is one that has gained your trust, I cannot give you a name for I do not know it."

Odanion thought for a moment. "Kazuki!"

Odanion let go of the thug's collar and knocked him out. He then started to run towards the restaurant. When he arrived he noticed that Kazuki was not waiting there and Revruby was not sitting where they sat earlier. "Damn it!" He then ran off in the direction he was sure Kazuki lived.

Kazuki looked down at Revruby who was tied to a bed. "Looks like I get to have some fun with you." He said with a wide grin.

Revruby tried to scream but her mouth was gagged, so all she got out was a few muffled sounds.

Kazuki leaned towards her. "There, there my pretty. I will take good care of you, I promise."

Revruby squirmed to get away from his hand.

"Please do not move around so much, you will only hurt yourself more." Kazuki moved slightly closer and placed his hand on her left shoulder just above the collar of her kimono, he then slid it down slowly.

Revruby started to cry again.

"Please do not cry, I promise I will be gentle."

Revruby started to squirm around and tried to scream yet again, but nothing good happened from it.

Kazuki got angry. "I said to stop moving!" He raised his hand and hit her across the face with the backside. "I would have been gentle, but you obviously don't want that!"

He raised his hand again, but for some reason he couldn't bring it down. He looked at his hand, and saw a wire around his wrist. He spun around quickly.

There, behind him was a bloody looking Odanion.

"Ahh, Odanion. I see you made it to the party, but why are you so bloody?"

Odanion smirked. "Those thugs of yours put up quite a battle, I didn't even know I could handle that many at one time."

Kazuki slipped his hand out of the wire with great expertise. "Well, looking at you now. I don't even think you will be fun to kill." Kazuki pulled out two wakazashi's.

Odanion who already had his katana out, held it in two hands and raised it above his head. "Bring it on!"

Kazuki came charging at him with a speed unlike Odanion had ever seen, Kazuki's blades met up with Odanion's, but his foot made contact with Odanion's chest, as he kicked him through the wall.

Odanion hit the ground with a loud thud, blood started to come out of his mouth. "This isn't good, I just punctured a lung. I need to end this soon."

Kazuki jumped out of the now broken wall opening, he had both swords pointed downwards as he planned on landing on Odanion.

Odanion, rolled over to the side as fast as he could, just narrowly missing the two blades.

Kazuki laughed. "Is that all you can do!"

Odanion tried to stand up, but was stopped by a painful feeling at his side as Kazuki kicked him in the ribcage with a force great enough to break two ribs.

Odanion choked up more blood. "This isn't good, if I keep up like this, I won't be able to save Ruby."

Kazuki smirked. "You know what? You are weak, after I killed you, I am going to have lot's of fun with your woman, yes I am going to enjoy her body over and over again, when she can't handle it anymore I will simply kill her and find a new toy." We walked up to Odanion again and tried to kick him.

Kazuki's foot met up with Odanion's hand, Odanion threw him backwards. "I will not let you harm her!" He yelled as he stood up.

"Oh, and what can you do about it?" Kazuki asked sarcastically.

A dark aura started to come around Odanion. "I will do what I must do!"

Kazuki looked fearfully at the aura. "W-What are you? Some kind of demon, or is this just some cheap trick?"

Odanion opened his eyes to look at Kazuki, the eyes Kazuki saw where not normal, they looked almost like that of a reptile. "I will not let you harm her!"

Kazuki was now clearly afraid. "W-What are you!?"

Odanion simply kept looking at him. "I am a guardian!" It was then that the aura changed to a white glow and his eyes changed yet again, his eyes were now a dark blue color.

Kazuki started to shake.

Odanion looked at him more afraid of what was going to happen, then anything. "I will protect her, even if this kills me!"

Kazuki started to sweat more and more. "W-What do you mean, even if that kills you?"

"Can you not see what is going on?"

Kazuki looked confused, it was then that he gasped yet again, as two large white wings sprouted from his back. Odanion charged towards Kazuki with a speed impossible for a human to possibly do, before Kazuki knew what had happened, there was a katana sticking right through his heart.

Kazuki slumped to the ground, no longer breathing.

Odanion quickly flew up to the room again.

Revruby was shocked at what she saw. She could tell it was Odanion, but what she saw, was the image of an angel.

Odanion quickly undid her bonds and took the gag out. "I am sorry."

Revruby looked at him confused. "Why are you sorry? You saved me."

Odanion frowned. "I am sorry that I cannot be with you anymore. You see, this is who I truly am, and if someone sees me like this, I have to return to heaven once again, the me here, will simply die."

Revruby started to cry as she dug her head into Odanion's shoulder. "Y-You can't leave me, I need you!"

Odanion looked sadly at her. "I-I am sorry, but to save you, I was willing to give up my time here on earth."

Revruby's tears flowed down her cheek. "Y-You can't leave me!" She clung on to Odanion.

Odanion looked softly at her. "If I had any choice I would stay with you, but I must go." Revruby fell through him as he faded away leaving a dead body that was once his.

Revruby turned him over so that she could check his pulse, he really was dead. Revruby started to cry like she had never done before. "Why, why did you have to go!? I need you here with me, I cannot live without you." She merely laid her head against his chest and cried.

Quite a time went past, when suddenly something startled Revruby, she could hear the beating of a heart, it was weak, but it was there. She opened her eyes, and there laying where he had died, Odanion looked straight at her with caring eyes. "H-How?"

Odanion lifted his arm and wrapped it around her. "The people up there let me return to be with you, they agreed that the use of my power was one that I should not have avoided, so the decided to return me."

Revruby threw herself at him. Knocking the two of them to the floor, where their lips finally met for the first time.

The soft touch of Revruby's lips met against the sweet tasting lips of Odanion, it was as if they both had gone to heaven. They do not know how long they laid there embracing each other and sharing one another's breath, while the everlasting kiss was made. Finally Revruby broke away from Odanion's kiss and just looked at him lovingly, she then rested her head on his chest and fell asleep.

Odanion chuckled softly. "I guess it couldn't be helped, I will take her to my house and lay her to sleep, she has been through a rough time."



Revruby's eyes opened up, she sat up in bed and slowly looked around the room, it was the same room she had been seeing for a while now. A lovely smell came through the door. "Mm, what is that lovely smell?" She stood up out of bed, and slowly walked out of the open bedroom door. She then continued down the hallway getting closer and closer to the smell, it was then that she opened the door to the kitchen.

Odanion turned around smiling. "I see you are awake."

"Well you could have woken me up, if you wanted me awake."

"No, its ok. I wanted to make you breakfast."

Revruby smiled. "Well that was nice of you."

Odanion quickly finished cooking the breakfast and brought it to the table, where he and Revruby enjoyed a wonderful smelling and tasting breakfast.

Odanion kneeled beside Revruby. "I know this may be sudden, but. You are my sun my stars and my moon, you bring daylight and night, you can scare away the shadows. During the day you are what I think about, and during the night you brighten up my life. So I ask you Ruby, will you marry me?" As he asked this he opened up a blue velvet box, revealing a golden ring with a single shining ruby.

Revruby looked at him shocked. "I-I don't know what to say, I mean. I love you, but this is all so sudden." Revruby saw the glisten in Odanion's eyes fade away slightly. "But I didn't say no." She paused for a second. "Yes, yes I will marry you."

Odanion placed the ring on her slender finger.

Revruby wrapped her arms around Odanion's neck, and their lips met once again. "I am the happiest woman alive."

Odanion whispered in her ear. "Then I am the happiest man alive, for I was the only one to be able to get you."

Revruby blushed.

Revruby left shortly afterwards, to go pick out a new dress kimono for the wedding.

Odanion, on the other hand was making the arrangements for the wedding.

That very same evening the wedding was getting held.

It was a beautiful night so they decided to have the wedding outside. Odanion and Revruby were standing face to face under a white wooden piece of artwork.

Words were being said to the both of them, words of praise, words of wisdom and words of joy. None of these words were actually heard by the two standing there just gazing lovingly at each other. They were asked questions, and they answered it without actually hearing them.

The only thing the two of them saw was their love for each other and for them, which was all they needed. Then the two of them heard the ending part, and it was time for the sealing kiss.

Odanion leaned forward slightly, and then Revruby leaned in. Their lips met and for a moment it was if they were on top of the world. Nothing mattered to them at that moment, they had all they wanted right there in front of them, Odanion's hand went behind her head and held her close.

The evening seemed so long, but it was such a short moment that they embraced each other, and shared that one long breath.

Then out of the blue, white flower petals started to fall like rain, at least it looked like flower petals, but they melted when they touched a warm surface.

"Awe, it's snowing on a wedding." Revruby said while smiling.

"You know that means good luck don't you?"

Revruby smiled.

"Let's go to our home then, my lovely Ruby."

Revruby clung to Odanion as they walked through the garden as the snow continued to fall.



Well it looks like it is a happy end for the two love birds.

This was a nice story it had a nice emotional foundation and a developing plotline, you characterization was interesting and enjoyed the refreshing nature of your idea. But I don't mean this to be harsh but the actual way the story was written wasn't very good. The sentence structure was erroneous at times as was your use of language. This made it difficult to get into the exciting plot, it distracted me from your otherwise good story.

Also even when your use of language was correct grammatically, it just for lack of a better sounded a bit 'off'. But I applaud on the originality of your idea, I'm sorry id this sounded a bit abrasive...I think if you edited it a bit, went over it with a fine tooth comb it could develop into something great! I would suggest reading it out to yourself. And if something doesn't sound right change it, you are the best judge of your own work after all. I think this is your or one of your first entries? So don't get discouraged it has great potential, I look forward to reading more of your work...keep trying.

this is indeed one of my first works sent into here...I try to pre read it myself...but I am slightly dislektic so I don't really notice it...not to mention the fact I stopped learning new english words when I hit the age of 12 due to moving to the netherlands, so I have a little bit of a problem there too, I am glad however that you liked my story and think I have potentiol...I just wish I would notice the grammer errors and such before hand. And this story did not have anything happen to it at all, as because of the style I wanted to write down whatever came to my mind.

Don't worry I am not stressing about this, simply explaining why I sometimes have some mistakes and such

This story is full of emotions and the dialogues speak by itself. The approach by the author narrating the story through conversation deserves praise! Well done!
