Synopsis: Tall, dark and gorgeous him saw plain-jane her.

Jay kicked at the can in his path. His confused mind has troubled him during his walk home from Ken's house to now. Jay did not care where the can landed, even so, he could not see. It was 3am in the morning and almost 1 out of every 6 lampposts at that area was out. Ken's birthday bash shagged him. The smell of beer and sweat clung on his shirt. But that wasn't what was troubling him, he was used to that. It was some other thing. Jay just realized both Gary and Rod got their new girlfriends - serious ones. No, not a party-date, not a one-night-stand, they told him they were for real.

To Jay, the words "for real" never crossed his mind. He had many dates. Being a tall, dark, and handsome 24-year-old, that was a norm. He need not search, yet many came to him. In dances, parties, dancing partners were ever changing. One by one, hot babes in the best fashions and make-ups, features and figures, waited patiently to dance with him. Occasionally, Jay picked up some of these ladies for an intimate session behind in the alley, but emotional intimacy never crossed his mind.

He never thought about why until now. The beautiful ladies failed to satisfy his emotional desire and he wondered why. He yearned, surprisingly enough for himself, for a real girlfriend.

The sky threatened to pour with a bolt of thunder faraway. The reddish picture overhead proved the warnings true. Soon, too soon for Jay, droplets of rain landed on him. Jay followed his human instinct - seek shelter at the nearest house's porch. After a quick scan, Jay decided on the white cottage-like house on his left. He scampered up the stairs and allowed himself to sit on the wooden bench and the porch but quickly stood up when he realized the bench wasn't his and he was wetting it. As a normal procedure by the unwritten handbook of courtesy, Jay approached the door to knock and apologize. But he stopped after a step.

The window had its curtain tied to its sides. The view from the porch was utterly amazing to Jay. He saw a woman. Normally, that would have failed to capture his attention, but this woman did.

She was in an oversize tee and a pair of shorts. Her oval face with high cheekbones was decorated with doleful eyes and matching lips. Red lips, real lips, no lipsticks whatsoever. Her natural long, dark hair cascaded down her shoulders to her waist. This lady - a plain lady, Ken would call - brought Jay's every hyperactive hormones to attention. For the first time is Jay's adulthood, he was practically drooling. The lady, feeding her 2 cats, looked anything but describable for Jay.

Surely, Jay ensured himself, this is real love. Undoubtedly, this is the girl I have been yearning for just half an hour ago. Thankfully, I found her.

Still flabbergasted, Jay forced his face off the window and floated to the door. A light knock he made on the door brought Jay to the peak of his excitement. Cold sweat broke out on his forehead and palms. These were perhaps just rainwater, but Jay believed it was his sweat. Using his "sweat" on his palm, Jay nervously ran the hand through his hair, hoping that it would be well-done, in fact, best done.

The door creaked slightly as it opened up. The wonderful girl stood in front of Jay. Jay felt wobbly with joy.

"Can I help you? Oh you are all wet! C'mon, take a seat inside," the girl spoke with her voice Jay would call music.

Unbelievingly, his airy feet walked him in.

An answer to his troubled mind clicked on.

"For I never saw true beauty till this night."

Alittle wishful. What I mean be that is that it's not possible to find someone and fall in love in a snap. It takes time and... Hold on a sec. It takes desire to love, doesn't it?

I was a little put-off because we know nothing of her.

But I think the thing that bothered me the most was that it ended too soon - with too many questions unanswered.

I agree with Sheri - I hate when people write a story with potencial, and don't finish it, or just leave to many things hanging in the open, making you wonder what happens in a sence...

This story is something I have been searching for...it is the kind of story I enjoy reading the most and you definetly did nothing to let me down in this. I felt brought ito the story from the way it was written...I felt like I could really feel the way he did when girls where drooling over him...yet it was that one girl that actually cought his eye...I am a big fan of love at first sight things as they are true...you almost never develop true feelings for someone...you can develop lust...but love comes from the heart...it is there or it is not...

I enjoyed reading this a lot, and I cannot wait to read more from you

"Oh, you are all wet!" The story was brief, it is not even a full story. This introduction left many unanswered questions.

I liked they story; it was well written, but it seems a little unrealistic to me. Everything seemed really rushed and the ending was a little too brief for my liking but overall I liked it.
