The Colony, ashes of golden

Around are only ruins, burnt to crisp from the death.
Among the rubble I hear the use of one's final breath.

A small voice screams out.
It's faint, but without a doubt.
It is a voice I hear.
One that dares to shout.

Frantically I search for her,
Ripping stone from ground.
I wish her to be found.
Maybe for just one more sound.

At last my wish is granted; I firmly grasp a hand.
And finally I free her from the rubble-scattered land.

I stand back with the girl
As we take in this sight.
The colony is dead,
But even in this plight.

Hope is in the air,
with this smoke's yellow hue.
For in these ashes golden,
I know we'll start anew.

Nice theme. It reflects the history of many civilizations. You bring it all around, almost full circle. One can almost sense being there. I hope I never have to endure such extremes.

Well done.

Re: The Colony, ashes of golden

From the first installemnt, this one carries the theme well. An amazing emotional conclusion here with again the possibility of more. Great way to end...or even begin again maybe.

Interesting in that it is not as dark as the last one, with the lean towards hope, a building to the climax of sorts, from the very begining.

I still find the flow a bit rough but the structure of stanzas is well defined. Nice work, keep it up.

Thumbs up Re: The Colony, ashes of golden

I shall repeat myself here only because it is appropriate to do so…

Captivating imagery you have here. The emotions are again most potent. I will rate for this marvelous outcome, 4/5!

Forallthe rest that was said, I found the stark image in my head...seen many times of the two shadowsapled agaisnt the dismal backdrop and posible hope outstanding that you created that or made it so vivid and simply at that.

I hope you continue this, it would be a nice project work to add to your belt

Re: The Colony, ashes of golden

I comment both "The Colony" and this one here. It is great!
In "Colony", you said it's not certain you will continue...
Continue! Continue! It will be a shame if you don't.
Speaking for myself, I love that unique mix of dark and hope you bring, and this all reminds me on very good SF postapocalyptic movie or a book...and I can't wait for the rest.
