Thanks, I am glad you picked up on that. The whole poem is a metaphor for the dark poems section with the "hall" being the section and the displays are the poems submitted.

very clever metaphor. A dark poem about dark poems (written by a dark kitten lol). I enjoyed it, the rhythm was a tiny bit off at some points. For example:
In payment I ask only for your eternal soul
Place it here in this dirty communal bowl
I think the rhythm would be preserved if you left out only in the top line and here in the bottom line. Overall, great job.

I've never read anything by you and now I really would like to. Your work is fantastic. I loved this piece. Especially that stanza!

oh I feel nervous now! You are going to be judging my other works against this one and that's not likely to be a pretty experience keep in mind that this poem was written after HOURS!!!!!!! of digging around in the poetry forums finding suitable entries to the new "Dark" section I asked for (what was I thinking? lol) so I was influenced by probably hundreds of other amazing poems, sleep deprived and only thinking evil thoughts. Those kind of circumstances only present themselves once in a while and when they do they are hardly a measuring stick for other works! I love this poem, don't get me wrong, and I humbly think it to be an amazing opening and forward to this section of the cafe (that IS what it was written for) but it isn't very like my other poetry, I'm not often this inspired.
Thanks to you all, once again, for the comments, they are what make this site go round.
