kicked up layers of strewn debris
of flaking tales,
Etched with a fine nib -
The finest,
Gleaming in its triumphs,
Glinting are its wicked scratches,
It has one more chapter to write.
It glowers, hovering above naked,
moist and trembling skin,
before it plunges, gouges and scores
Its last victory
In
Its final word on the subject,
And into the subject,
that is me.

I had images of "sword of Damocles" with this one, waiting for that final thrust. I saw a metaphor throughout linking parchment and skin, driven home at the end. The words were simple but powerful. A well crafted piece!
