fluorescent lights glare at me,
muttering under their breath,
the hum of the schizophrenic soliloquy,
dicing silence into slices of white noise,
Cataloguing into decimals, mute decibels,
the pulse, the switch, on-an-off,

the temperamental groaning of the radiator,
-convection in a gravely undertone,
a sarcastic-spout-of-staccato-sound,
that silence, in his elusive presence
and nimble, stumbling footing renounces,
exiling him to the outside – where
cicadas and the breeze lull him
into a lullaby,
a carefree reverie,
where he awaits
-hair-on-end,
as shrubbery rustles
and bends,
seeking, defiling,
in cruel futility,
his banishment
from the unheard sound
off the unheard noise…

Hehe this one... all about subtle and silent sounds, and still manages to pound against my head and make it ache. *looks up at the fluorescent lit office* Enjoyable read, even if it does make me gaze longingly out the window and past the hell that is work
