Some of those that walk amongst us are dead,
even though their days and nights may be full.
I know what it's like to sleep in that bed,
to be the wolf and then become the wool.

I hear your prayers and they go unanswered,
I confess it is the same with my own.
The righteous yield the hammer and the sword.
whilst I gnaw foul carcass and bitter bone.

When they come for me I will be waiting,
and they will wonder was I ever there.
You can say I was anticipating
the carpenter's son, sitting in his chair.

i sense this is about reflection (rather than a general poem)... really like it... though you try to point at 'those' you are actually writing about yourself(?)...

You need to identify this as possessive by adding an apostrophe.

I really enjoyed this, and rhyme is not something I am always incredibly fond of these days but here it worked.

I know what it's like to sleep in that bed,
to be the wolf and then become the wool.

In particular those lines were just incredible, from wolf to wool, very clever and unique transition in your metaphor.
