Spoils of Love
Whispered promises, in passions glaze,
through sugar coated fantasies they crept, like gold upon the crust, deepening the hue as the time ticked past. Words swirled around, like sugar to sweet- rising, higher and higher, perfectly formed, and in the deepest corners the warmth hit spreading around and nestling in. But minutes passed and sweetness cooled, spoiled, laying left for memory alone sugar turned sour, and promises broke, glazed upon the cracked, burnt crust.

Ouch, that one's deep...Well written as always, though I am bias, because I adore your work... I love the contrast between when things were great, to when they werent any more...(what amessy sentence) anyways really nice bri!

Again, Bri, your way with words is riveting. The imagery, and the contrast between happy and sad, sweet and sour, are impeccable. Pain-fueled brilliance. As always, excellent!

it depicts how almost all relationships started and ended. love the way you had it penned. very descriptive and the words just hit at the right place!

Another corker, although the subject matter is hard to take. You never fail...to sorta...just pull something mazing out of your ass...and this is no exception. The whole metaphor of cake, and it cooling, and the sour taste...and all that jazz...it jsut really amkes you think about how deep your metaphors to exmamine soemthing, it really is rather amazing. And then you bring tatse into it....and I'm like damn...I really wanna write a poem with you again, becuase I've been mising out on some of your peotry. But I love it, I hoep you know that. So write more!

Time; an elusive element to a creative mind. For the story burns to be expressed, flooding the mind, seeking an outlet. Red brimmed eyes and dark circles fore-tells a deeper story, echoed in a mirrors reflection. - my story.

I'm glad Claire brought this one forward again. It made me realize 1.) how much I like it, and 2.) the subtelty, the hidden meanings that I didn't fully appreciate on the first run. Sometimes it's nice to go back and hit it again.
