Don't Say You Will...Or Do It?
Marry me and bring me flowers
But do it softly and just for hours
Don’t be with me till it’s late
But be there holding hands of fate
Give her my flowers but give her also
A vessel for her windowsill
She will help you love and keep me
In sickness and in death
She will help you stand time still
Say I do, but say it gently, lest we shatter
All our dreams, say it now, but mean not forever
Just say it then I can sleep my dreams
Wake me up when we are older
But, do it when the lights go down
Catch all my dreams in nighttime’s holder
They will be saved and digested later
Make it water not make it wine
Take your vows with whole in mind
Take the bread and honey too
But, make edible and satisfying through
A short, long journey we companion well
Never longer than is meant to swell
Marry me and hear my laugher
But hushed it is in the now morning after
Don’t listen for it for evermore
Sounds of the mind make distance far
So, yes I do and yes I will
But not for me and not for you, until
It can be now but not just then
Or when we are together when
