I Was Married
I am married to the girl of my dreams
or so my dreams tell me,
I can’t conceive reality
when you are this close
but not actuality,
I can’t decipher the rhythm of humdrum
where dreams meets a daybreak
and love meet a someday,
A dream feigned in dark shadows
of whose faces I can’t see,
of you, or the others,
that love taunting to me,
they twist at my tethers
and tease at my sleep
as if my pillow were ballrooms
where we danced til it breathed,
and children came like the morrow
ever-present, never there,
a smile appeared out of nowhere
that was ours, to keep,
love grew like a season
and did not die like one too,
instead of the night time
where you loved, like I do
