A cat came to live with me today,
She strolled from a bush
She was in sad repair,
Her coat was tarnished,
She had ticks in her hair,
A cat came to live with me today.

Well looks can deceive,
She walked right up to me
With a confidence that just shouldn't be,
A cat came to live with me today.

She said but one word,
"Meow," I believe
I knew her meaning right away;
She was proud, she was hungry, she wouldn't beg,
A cat came to live with me today.

I patted her down, gave her some food,
Pulled thirty ticks from her matted hair
Then she took a lengthy nap in the wood
Later she strolled on back like she was the heir,
A cat came to live with me today.

Didn't take long, she seemed to belong,
She stole all our hearts in a day.
She ruled with distain
And I'll not complain 'cause
A cat came to live with me today
And that cat is here to stay.

I have a sugestion for one of your lines from a grammatical point;

She was in sad repair,.....maybe She was in need of repair or in sad disrepair

My grandpa and I were just throwing sentences together about our new cat...I did feel something strange about those lines I just stuck and couldn't fix it

as much as i hate cats with a passion, passion of the christ like passion, i think this is a great poem. it flowed really well except for the line that was pointed out, but nothing you cant fix. Really well done, keep it up.

Heir; one who inherits or is entitled to property, rank or title?

So, the cat is entitled to her ‘new home?’

I like this one. I believe you told me the story about when you found the cat, am I right? Well any way you worte it in the story format and it came out cute.

I didn't get the humour in the story until I thought. The humour is the charcteristics, isn't it? Dunno, never good with poems.

This is an old poem, I know, I read it a long time ago, but I think it should be reformatted for the new readers we have today.

Nonetheless, it was a great read. Easy to follow. It could easily fit into the children's section.
