Gaaahhhh! I missed this?! How? Just wonderful, Jenn. I echo Lu - your choice of words and imagery is spot-on and flawless. Great job.

Re: The Sweat of Love
Who's your biggest influence as a poet?

Re: The Sweat of Love
No, Rena, it shouldn't be possessive to me. It is a turtle shell ... like a sea shell or a seed pod. The emphasis is on the shell. If it was possessive, the emphasis would be on the turtle. Try saying both out loud and see if you hear a difference. I hear "a TURTLE'S shell" versus "a turtle SHELL" ... *shrug* ... no vast difference in meaning either way though, so I won't quibble!
Re: jlynam90 .... my biggest influence at the moment, is David Whyte. I used to be strongly influenced by William Wordsworth and John Keats though. Rumi and Rainer Maria Rilke are two other excellent poets I feel very inspired by reading. |
