I found myself watching Sesame St. today.
Astounded by the nostalgia, and the way
it sang to the little boy deep inside me.
“What do I want to be?”
he said, with a slight turn of his head.
I was surprised to find him,
I thought he was dead.
It reminded me of the time
where my brother and I
would sit and try to rhyme
each others' words.
What a beautiful day it is
when you remember when you were kids.
I found myself watching Sesame St. today...
Reminding me that blue is the color of the sky,
And it’s always alright to cry.

So true! No wonder kids are fascinated by all those shows. I know when I was younger, I was always questioning, and I'd soak up all that sesame street info like a sponge. Now, when I (...am forced to...) babysit, I sometimes watch the kiddie shows with the kids. And it's weird, you know, how they draw you in, with the sesame street wisdom of, a you put it:

And reminders of a time when life really was that simple. The title captures it perfectly. Very, very well done tay, I enjoyed this very much.

Pretty good. It's is nostaglic. I remember watching the show. I still remember how to count to eleven in French thanks to that show, it was so freaking easy. Oh well, might as will forget it.
I think the poem should have been a little longer than this, in my opinion. More "deadness" and a little more sentimentality. Yuppers. Expand this, you can do it.

Okay, I'll admit it, I got goosebumps. This hit a number of emotional points for me. I've been watching a lot of cartoons with my kids lately (is it bad that I like The Clone Wars and Ben 10 as much as they do?) and there's a feeling of comfort and safety there that is more than just having them close...I think it's the memory that I used to be like them, and the realization that that kid isn't entirely gone yet.

Ha! Funny to read this now....My wife and I were laughing at ourselves the other evening because it seems like the older we get the more likely we are to cry over something in a film!

You know I would really like to offer up some kind of advice here for you, but I am at a loss. This is by far one of my favorite pieces from you, it's just so perfectly constructed and the tone is so well delivered... I feel damn proud of you! The entire piece echoes that innocence, the way things used to be easy and simple and idle time was taken up with little games between brothers... but there is a sadness, too, a reminder that with growth comes complication, and nostalgia over days when things were not so hard. Truly, this is amazing Tay!
