Re: Open Hand
I enjoyed reading this, but i'm a little lost as to what feeling this song is supposed to emit.
Anger? Sadness? I guess i'm lost cause I have no idea what the term "love me with an open hand" means. Does it mean u never gave me everything u could? Also is this written to a lover, cause I get a parent feel to it. Good Job |

Re: Open Hand
I think these are simply beautiful. To answer you, Boss (what is your name btw?) I think it is a feeling of sadness, perhaps a bit of regret but mostly claiming freedom that you let go for so long. The best way I can explain what I see here is a caged bird, someone locking away beauty for only themselves and in turn causing that beauty to fade under lack of love and freedom. Not so much a physical abuse but more so a mental one, a chain and the pushing down of someone. The "open hand" falls right in with that, to love unconditionally rather than to love and smother, in fits of jealousy and rage.
Rick, these touched me. It is a sad situation to be in, to know you are loved but to never be loved the way you know you deserve, and to stay because you hope someday they will see you and appreciate you the way you should be... and yet, never happens. Again, another set I would love to hear to music. Probably one of my favorite pieces from you ever, just perfect, every word.

Re: Open Hand
Why do you sometimes use "she" and other times use "I"?
This seems like an inconsistency here. Also, you need to exercise a little discretion with your comments, mate. Be a little sensitive for crying out loud.

Re: Open Hand
There's a shift of point of view, between the observer and the lady. First and last stanzas are from the observer's POV, the choruses and the middle stanzas are the lady.

Re: Open Hand
One of the worst situations to be in. I do agree with tid – maybe want to look at your point of view...but you know what I would love you to do with this... having male and female sing from each prospective view.

Re: Open Hand
Never tried that with this one. We do it with Driftwood, which is posted here somewhere - Laura sings first verse, I sing second, we both sing the third, with three parts on the choruses. Interesting, Claire. We may try that next practice with this one. Thanks for the comments.

Re: Open Hand
This is pretty good, Rick. The feeling you've portrayed in this one is definitely the worst. And you did a great job of penning that down. Beautiful lyrics. I'm going to keep pushing you to add the songs as attachments now, I love them all!
