Re: It's All Right To Cry
Gah, these are gorgeous, heartfelt... and just packed full of genuine care and concern. It's been a while since something got me that choked up. The flow is spot on, I must say you are the master of lyrics around here. Not much more I can say just these are beautiful, truly.

Re: It's All Right To Cry
Bri! I've missed you!
Glad to hear you say you liked it, hun. I want to try linking up an MP3 to it like I did with "Indian Summer." I wrote this for a good friend of mine who'd just lost a dear friend in a car accident. She was a basket case. I just hung with her for about three months until she could start to function again. That's about all I could do for her - and it was really all she needed.Thank you so much for the comments. I'm flattered.

Re: It's All Right To Cry
This is really touching... Sometimes it is hard finding words that give the author the justice of how much the reader appreciates their work. With this piece I find that it just might be impossible. As a friend, it touches... as a piece, it breathes life... as words, they are breathtaking. Just beautiful.

Re: It's All Right To Cry
Thank you, Sweetie. You've got me a little choked up here. I always appreciate your comments, as you know, but this one's off the scale. I'm flattered. Sy.

Re: It's All Right To Cry
I never know what to say for these; there's so much that I want to say, but funnily enough, I can never quite put it right. There's something so genuine and heartfelt about this that shines through-the personal experience is evident. Kind of wraps around you like a warm blanket and offers a kind smile and a box of tissues. Beautiful.

Re: It's All Right To Cry
Hey Rick, you did a real good job with this, it's usually hard for me to pick up on lyrics, and this was no different for me, so I don't really know what to say, but I enjoyed its emotion, and it was so heartfelt, and that's what lyrics should always be, straight from the heart and you did this quite fantastically I must say.

Re: It's All Right To Cry
Okay, so this has been here for a time, and I haven't seen it - Sorry. I do try to make rounds to everything I can.
I appreciate what you have put down here. It is so calming, reassuring, and filled with truth. Like most people on this site, I have been in this spot as well. Sometimes it seems to be just as hard for the one offering genuine support (not that cookie-cutter, "if there's anything I can do...", "sorry for your loss" kind of support) to know how to help as it is for the person grieving the loss. It's a different struggle, but a struggle none the less. What you've captured is really amazing, and I sincerely hope that one day you'll find a way to let us all hear it as it is intended to sound.

Re: It's All Right To Cry
Thanks. As happens with a lot of stuff I write, this came from a true life experience. That makes it easier to find the genuine emothions.
If you'd like to hear what I sound like, check out "Indian Summer." It's at: Indian Summer I intend to put up an MP3 of this song as well, but I need to go into my studio to record it. Don't have a good enough live version.

Re: It's All Right To Cry
Sometimes all anybody needs to hear is that it is alright to cry. I love the lyrics...now where's the music?

Re: It's All Right To Cry
I haven't found a good enough live cut of it. When I get some time, I'll duck into my studio and record an MP3 of it.
This one is written to a young lady named Laurie with whom I had a relationship. She lost her best friend in a car accident, and she was devastated. Even though we had broken up about six months before, I moved her back in with me for a while because she was pretty much non-functional. I just spent time with her and was there for her and took care of her until she was ready to face the world again. Inspiration comes from all different places. "Indian Summer," the other song of mine you critiqued? I bought a jug of Indian Summer Apple Cider at the grocery store. As I was standing in the checkout line, the whole scenario just exploded in my mind. The song just came flooding out, a totally hypothetical situation. By the time I got home, it was written. I got out my guitar and a 4-track and recorded a demo so I wouldn't forget it.
