toasts made in jeweled-
crystal glasses, gleaming
like shimmering stars,
filled with the zip of wine
and sweet angelic taste.

Nectar and ambrosia,
food and drink of the
gods,
decor and ambience,
appearance counts.
Peace to retreat from
the chaos,
a leisure, lush, and
manicured kind of
idyllic pace.

Exuberant, hopeful,
and undaunted
chatter,
fresh fish swimming
in a frenzied kind of
dancing runner's race.

Overheard in the ripe,

fruits of fervent eaves
gossip mongering,
a short beer-bellied,
Buddah-looking man,
and his Lilliputian dog,
appearing like two cats
in drag,
or two country-hick
kind of sailors like
two fish out of water,

fingers, burping, giving
gas, and in upscaled
diner's disgrace.

Midst breeding and
etiquette, formality
and culture,
Horn and Hardart,
burgers and fries in
the Hamptons are a
'no-no'.
And, chicken floating
in grease is just 'so-so',
among the upscaled
fish swimming in the
seaweed-abandoned
sesame soba noodles,
swirling in a pleasant
cervicle, and with taut-
skinned smiles on each
one of the fish's face.

Midst culture, formality,
New England frugality,
breeding and etiquette
in the Hamptons set
the context, mood,
style, and timing for
an upscale diner's,
gourmet seafood's
savored place.

Let's raise our glasses,
and make a toast to
the rich croanies:

eye."
