There are strangers in the park
where I dream of them day after day,
Whisked away by the fragrance of the sweet grass,
pulling me into the ground
where I am rooted,

There are strangers in the park,
An old man feeds the ducks
with the dried bread crumbs
he found in his bare cupboard,
"Go fetch," a man shouted to his dog
who caught the frisbee in mid-air,
A couple was having a picnic, eating their lunch and laughing together,
forgetting about their surrounding altogether.

There are strangers in the park,
I see them and they live like ordinary people,
like they really do exist when they don't,
I got my own life, like they have theirs.

Is this really a poem? It seems more like a very short short story placed in a poem format. The idea and imagery are good, but it didn't seem to flow like a poem.

Also:

"I got my own life, like the have theirs" They have theirs?

I wanted to write a short-story on the poem but I decided it should be a poem. Maybe that's why it sounds like a short-story made into a poem.

I missed this one peppy.....very simplistic with a surrealist feel...liked it a lot.

it doesn't any rhythmical approach though as in a poem, but the idea behind is indeed very good.

This definetly didnt flow like a poem- but it is too abstract and inconsistant to be a short story. I enjoy the choice of words used to depict the subjects perspective. Interesting to say the least.
