The rain falls down
and I with it,
sliding between the crack of stones
into soil, soft and compressed
around my muddy form,
resting there, trickling, spreading
my surface out into the darkness,
knowing there are thousands more
like me
who seek once more, to
kneel on the earth and dissolve into
peace.

This is quite different from you, Jenn, and still just as powerful and gorgeous. You speak volumes in only a small set of lines here, but it smacks you like a ton of bricks. The overall feeling was well captured, the blend of nature and emotion, longing and uneasyness. I always try and offer up some sort of critique that may help with you but I seem to love everything just the way it is. Very well done!

I haven't really written a poem in ages and this was the first one. I don't seem to have the creative energy to write anything long or complex, but this was what I felt after working out in the garden, even in the rain. Thanks Bri *hugs*

Whoa. I agree with Bri, Jenn. This packs as much punch as your longer stuff. Very nicely done. Great images, great language, smooth flow. What more can you ask for in a poem? Nice!
