Though I suspect this has a deeper meaning, this is eerily pertinent right now given how much of California is presently on fire.

I loved the last stanza in particular. Masterful!

I got a very medieval feel from this, the words selected and the dark references. 'Wrap a sling upon what happened hence', what an awesome line, truly just loved it.

I see this one a few ways... one, with the whole medieval theme in my mind I saw battlegrounds, homes and forests on fire by neighboring lords, battle cries and broken families.

On the other hand I see it as nature taking its course, judging humanity and burning it for all the harm done.

and then of course, deeper still, the raging fire in ones own mind, the string of emotions and broken memories, now being consumed.

Loved them all!

The Fall of the Roman Empire - SPQR. The eagle was the standard of the Roman Army. You may not have imagined that, but that's what I see; that's the image this evoked in me. Roman crested helmets (and heads) cloven in half, falling to the ground while the barbarians burned the forests and cities. Like Bri said, epic.

Whatever you intended, the imagery is sweeping and exquisite. Another winner, Lu.

On the interps....my only reason for this was a weird urge to write about fire deliberately though half swayed to veer and this was it.
