A long, sleek and shiny
Majestic black cat
Waits patiently preening
On bristles of mat

A solitary figure
Face up to the sky
A contented soul
Watching birds as they fly

He now casts a shadow
Long and sedate
He fixes his stare
On wrought iron gate

Hearing quickening footsteps
Erect he now stands
Responding serenely
To two outstretched hands

He sidles up close
Then weaves to the door
Shimmering in twilight
He sits patiently once more

The door swings open
They both cross the mat
It closes behind
A happy black cat

you are obsessed with cats, no doubt... a hardcore cat person lol... cats are like that, they will be the masters of your if you let them, i.e. they dont mind being the center of attention when ready, and you seemingly have fallen into that cat's spell to be so observant. therefore the title is ironic cuz it could have well be renamed faithful owner lolll....... that being said, i admire the love people such as you have for their pets (if you are indeed writing about your cat).
