History's Waco: Could It Be Different?

More than four
thousand years now,
and we're still
willingly stumbling about
this burning building;
our eyes and ideologies smarting
terribly. History's Waco!
Yet for us, exit signs exist.
They've been burning bright green
since the nineteenth century!
We might yet consciously escape, then,
from what must still seem like to many,
the ghost of Providence.
