I've often felt that the only thing
that's kept me from flying like a bird
is that I don't believe that I can do it.
If I could just convince myself of my ability to fly,
I would then be able to do it.
Of course, I also realized that if
I convinced myself hard enough,
I would believe I had flown regardless
of whether I really had or not.
So, I guess I've never flown
because I'm afraid of going insane.

This was interesting. Perhaps not the best poem i've read, but a really good way of going about an idea. I liked it jnabonne.

Yeah, I seem to write these things somewhere between poems and... not poems. Part of the problem with this, I think, is the odd capitalization of the lines. I'll have to look at that.

I understand your ideas here, and thats why I was able to enjoy this the first time I read it. I don't enjoy the flow... but it doesnt matter as a whole I guess. I like it. It summons memories of childhood- days spent jumping off of swings trying to fly... any time a poem recalls memories or emotions for me I enjoy them.

I get a buzz out of reading established members stuff who have older stuff and since wer e joined i thought i would spare you some time and comment as i cant do evevrytime i read.....also takes the enjoyment of my treats....explanaton to fellow members.

I lovet his because as above it gives diff people whatever they want memories, ideas makes them think as clearly you like to do..Isutmbled at the end hoping initial condumrum/thoguht was wrong but wasn't.....an also it did make it harder to spend more time because of the actual matter or not format.so think on...a keen mind isn't everything..we here need to read the bloody thing!lol

Lu: thanks much. Funny how when you read your older stuff, you cringe a bit, even though there's some merit. Maybe I should rewrite this one.

Colin: I like how you changed "believe" to "think". Intentional? And permission appreciated.

Also, just realized I wasn't Bluejay back then. More apropos now, though I wouldn't want to get pigeonholed with all this flight business. Perhaps this is all a subconscious wish on my part to be free, to be able to fly anywhere in the world I want, whenever I want...
