Not sure your meaning behind this but it reminded me of the tribal customs in places like Africa... genital mutilation of young women. Very powerful stuff.

and then the ending, the pace picks up, the phrases shorten... perfect fit. "to the humanity behind the roar" geez again, this is just amazing.

You know you seem to be changing, your first few poems I read a while back you appeared as an outsider to the poem, simply observing. But this new stuff, you have thrown yourself in there, you are feeling the emotion and it really shows... and it makes the reader really feel, more than just beautiful imagery but a slew of emotion and rawness. I love this.
