What Is Truth?
Ironing words,
I press my mind into the crisp corners of truth's wardrobe. What will be worn today? |

Re: What Is Truth?
Ah, Jenn - how do you do it? Come up with these words that pack so much meaning in such a small space? (Shakes head in bewildered admiration) I like this new wrinkle, these miniatures you've been writing lately. Great job!

Re: What Is Truth?
This was fantastic Eadha, I loved the metaphor. So short, but perfectly executed and carried throughout. The use of "press", perfect. it's very hard to critique such short, excellently rounded poems. I enjoyed it, and the last line was great.
Fascinating. Hats off (so to speak).

Re: What Is Truth?
I definitely don't agree with the implication that is laid out, but the way in which you have expressed your sentiments is entirely amazing. Concise is epitomized beside clarity within the narrow confines of this didy.
It's a sad take on it all (of course, that's just my opinion), and I would love to debate it, but this is neither the time or the place. For all literary purposes, this has made it onto my short list of top picks. Great work!

Re: What Is Truth?
It is always striking to me when a handful of words, arranged just so, can spur this stream of thoughts in my mind and more so, the placement of what it stirred up into my past/present memories.
Interesting, and I have to agree with Rakkasan, this one almost seemed melancholy... like one was being forced to iron out imagination, dreams, those silly little fabrications of reality we store in our mind and try on for a time or two, knowing we can never afford them. But instead you iron them out, and select from a wardrobe of truth... which sounds rather forced and sad when one really thinks of it. Then again, perhaps I should remove my head from the clouds once in a while and see how the other half live ![]() Very well done, hun!

Re: What Is Truth?
all I was saying is that truth has many faces, many appearances, not different than we put on clothing .. yet we are still the same person. Just because Truth looks different on the outside doesn't mean it is different below the surface. Pressing my mind into the corners of the wardrobe for me is a positive thing ... it's like seeking out the truth, getting round the edges ...
.... and it remains in a "box" only until we are brave enough to try it for ourselves!!! Heh, everyone's perceptions of this shows indeed the many ways truth (or a poem) can be taken. Yet the poem is still itself .. still all the same words and structure. That was my whole point. |
