I enjoy this hunger – this loss of control,
the papyrus of skin rubbed raw by bone,
anorexia skinning my dyslexia
to a state of nothingness
and I counted verbiage
as I felt starved by your kiss,

I’ve lost my will to talk
I’ve lost my will to eat,
I’ve lost my will to worry
of how thin it is to speak,

a skeleton of poetry
that felt once full lips,
hides in your closet
and recites silence,

The house of weatherboards
that still can’t talk
the possums playing polo
beneath the floorboards,
the wind finding solace
in the draught that creeps in,
creaking whitewash from the walls
with it’s hollow outstretched limb,

Hunger sits on empty
and tries to find the words,
to ask for some mercy
or at least to be heard,

I loved it. Told you so on MSN. The house metaphor is a bit lost on me, but I absolutely adore the anorexia parallel. You did it so well! Great work.

Chris, wow! Nice metaphor. The anorexia parallel is something very new. Your language is lovely. "Papyrus of skin", "as I felt starved by your kiss"...so many more. Would be quoting the entire thing if I pick up more of these.
