but left bitterness on my lips,
a kiss that left me reeling
with a hook that did not sink,

a fish, caught, yet struggling,
a heart, just the same,
a fisherman – who sat opposite
giving you a target for your rod to aim,

a river catching twilight
and another day with a meagre catch,
I was the fisher opposite,
I was the fish that got away,
I was the kiss that burnt my lips
and left me fishing, another day,
